When to start shopping for cold weather footwear
Generally, we’d recommend getting in as early as possible when it comes to buying cold weather footwear to avoid high prices and limited options. A great time to look is mid-late September, as stores start to stock new-season collections, but there are also a range of in-stock options left over from summer sales.
The main tip we’d have when it comes to timing your cold weather footwear purchases is to be proactive, check your desired shops regularly in the lead up to Autumn to see if their newest collections have dropped. Getting in early is almost always the best way.
What types of shoes do kids need in the autumn season?
To be fully prepared, there are a few different types of shoes kids need for the Autumn season:
-
Boots - A sturdy pair of boots are an absolute must, especially ones made from leather or synthetics that are water resistant. Contrary to popular belief, boots can still be a stylish option for colder months. Despite their main function being warmth, support, and protection from the elements, patent leather boots like the Marina Black are equally useful and stylish.
-
Wellies - A pair of cute wellies are needed for those especially rainy days. Kids love to get out, even when the weather isn’t great. Equip them with a pair of wellies that will protect their feet from the wet weather and make them sparkle like a princess, all at the same time.
-
Trainers - Supportive trainers are ideal for outdoor play times, especially in more slippery conditions and where they way be wet leaves on the ground. Supportive soles with adequate grip are important to prevent injury, and assist growth, so look out for leather or rubber soles.
-
School shoes - Whilst you’ve likely already bought your school shoes for back to school, look out for last minute B2S bargains. You may also want to consider whether your child needs different school footwear for the colder months, especially if they’re experiencing discomfort in their current ones. Patent leather school shoes are always a great option.
